Missing Woman Fatally Struck On Highway In Burlington Co.: Police

The elderly woman left home on Saturday evening. State Troopers found her remains the following morning on I-295.

Correction: Willingboro police previously reported that Yvrose Germain was 80. State Police told Patch that she was 75.


WILLINGBORO, NJ — An elderly Willingboro woman who went missing was fatally struck on Interstate 295, authorities said.

Yvrose Germain, 75, left her home in the Somerset Park section of town on Saturday evening, according to the Willingboro Township Police Department.

At 8:15 a.m. Sunday, state troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Interstate 295, milepost 46.8 in Burlington Township. Authorities found that Germain had been struck by an unknown vehicle that was traveling northbound.

She sustained fatal injuries.

It wasn't immediately clear when the vehicle struck Germain. The accident remains under investigation, and State Police had no additional information available.

Germain, who had dementia and spoke Haitian-Creole, had been considered endangered when she went missing.

Willingboro police extended sympathy to those who knew Germain.

"We extend our deepest condolences to her friends, family, and loved ones during this difficult time," Willingboro police said. "We want to thank the community for their assistance and support during the search efforts."
