Municipal Budget Approved

The average homeowner will see a $41 increase.

The township’s municipal was approved Monday night and will add an extra $41 a year to the average homeowner’s tax bill.

The impact on the tax rate is about 1.4¢ per $100 of assessed home value. The average home is assessed at $295,000 in Cinnaminson.

Several challenges were faced this year when preparing the budget, according to Gerry Seneski, township administrator.

There was over $400,000 in addition budget appropriations alone, such as $140,000 for police cars, $140,000 for pensions and $33,000 for street lighting.

Property value decreased more than $16 million total because of various tax appeals and a decrease in ratables.

The budget, proposed at about $12.2 million, is within the 2 percent cap, a new levy that went into effect this year. 

There are three parts of a tax bill: municipal tax, county tax and school tax. The county will introduce its budget this spring. You can find school budget progress .
