Norcross, Gustafson React To Their NJ First District Win
Incumbent and Democrat Donald Norcross will face Republican Claire Gustafson in the race for NJ's 1st Congressional District this November.

SOUTH JERSEY — Incumbent and Democrat Donald Norcross will square off against Republican challenger Claire Gustafson in November in the race for New Jersey's 1st Congressional District, according to the Associated Press.
Below are the unofficial results for New Jersey District 1 primary as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and with roughly 80 percent of the vote counted:
Democrats

Donald Norcross: 42,800 votes (77.3 percent)
Mario DeSantis: 12,546 votes (22.7 percent)

Republican
Claire Gustafson: 12,840 votes (68.8 percent)
Damon Galdo: 5,812 votes (31.2 percent)
Results remain unofficial until they are certified.
Norcross's team did not immediately return Patch's request seeking comment on the results.
Norcross took to Facebook Tuesday evening to thank voters for their support, adding "we will continue our fight for good jobs, affordable health care and higher educational opportunities, to cut the gas tax and hold oil companies accountable, and keep our nation and neighborhoods safe."
A spokesperson for Gustafson did not immediately return Patch's call seeking comment.
In a statement to Patch, she thanked her campaign volunteers voters and reminded readers that she faced Norcross in the 2020 Congressional race.
"We have our rematch!" she said. "We have our rematch and I am confident voters will respond positively as we present them with our ideas on how to lower taxes and fix the Biden economy."
The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
