Now Parents Can Play Too: Diggerland USA Announces Adult Size Addition to Theme Park

Diggerland USA is a theme park in South Jersey that was opened by a Mount Laurel firefighter and his brother in 2014. It gives children the experience of operating real heavy machinery used at construction sites.

Now, their parents can get in on the fun.

Diggerland XL, an adult-sized addition to the theme park, opens on Saturday, April 2. Customers who are 18 years old and up will now have the chance to play on giant pieces of construction equipment.

“Since we opened in 2014, we’ve received hundreds of inquiries asking if our construction theme park is suitable for adults,” Diggerland USA co-owner Ilya Girlya, said in a statement from the company posted on its website. “We have plenty of adults visit without kids and they have a great time so wanted to take that one step further with Diggerland XL.”

Customers will have a choice between three different machines, including a full-sized wheel loader, excavator or bulldozer, for either 90 minutes or three hours. A heavy machinery forman provides 30 minutes of instruction before each session.

They can play heavy machinery games, which include excavator basketball and the water wheel loader challenge.

“Diggerland XL is for people who want to really experience the big pieces of equipment and see what they can do,” Diggerland USA co-owner Yan Girlya said. “If you’ve seen these massive machines in action, they’re really impressive. This is unrestricted, full size equipment.”

Ilya Girlya is a volunteer firefighter in Mount Laurel, and the CEO and President of Sahara Sam’s Oasis Water Park, which his family opened in 2008. He and his brother, Yan, opened Diggerland six years later.

Reservations for Diggerland XL can be made online for any time the theme park is open to the public. Diggerland USA opened for the season on March 19, and is open every weekend. It will be open daily starting June 13.

The park is located at 100 Pinedge Drive in West Berlin. It covers 14 acres of land and gives children the chance to operate full size excavators, dumper trucks, and backhoes among a range of other heavy machinery in what they call a safe, family-friendly environment. It currently has over 25 attractions.
