Pemberton Twp. Woman's Actions Led To Customer's Death: Prosecutor

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A Pemberton Township woman was found guilty of causing the death of a woman she sold fentanyl-laced heroin to, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said.

On Thursday, a jury convicted Shannon McGuigan on charges of strict liability for drug-induced death in the first degree, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the third degree, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute in the third degree and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in the third degree, the prosecutor said.

She was taken into custody and will be sentenced on April 29, according to the prosecutor.

McGuigan sold another Pemberton Township woman fentanyl-laced heroin, the prosecutor said. A short time later, the purchaser overdosed and was found dead in her home on May 30, 2017, according to the prosecutor. An autopsy showed she died from heroin and fentanyl toxicity, the prosecutor said.
