Suspect In Custody After Shooting Death, Standoff in Beverly City
The Beverly City School District, which closed Tuesday due to the incident, will be open on Wednesday, the district superintendent said.
BEVERLY CITY, NJ — A man was shot to death inside a Beverly City house on Tuesday, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said.
Police were first notified about the shooting at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to authorities.
A standoff between the shooter and police ensued and lasted several hours before the shooter surrendered and was taken into custody at about 8:30 a.m., according to authorities.

A woman and four children who were inside the house during the shooting and the standoff were not injured and ultimately rescued, authorities said.
Neither the victim nor the shooter nor the woman nor the four children was immediately identified by authorities.

The events shut down the Beverly City School District on Tuesday, according to the school district's website.
The school district's schools will reopen Wednesday and the district will make up the lost day on June 20, Elizabeth Giacobbe, the district's superintendent, told Patch.
