Police Save Christmas For South Jersey Family In Need

Most of a Florence Township family's presents were in their car when it was stolen over the weekend. They were saved by a little generosity.

FLORENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ - When a Burlington County family found their car full of presents had recently been stolen, the holiday was in jeopardy. However, they were helped by local police who didn’t bust the bad guy in this instance, but instead saved the day through generosity.

In this instance, police sprang into action, putting their money together along with a donation from the Florence Township F.O.P. Lodge 210, and began shopping for gifts this weekend.

After hearing about this incident, B&H Photo also donated an iPad to include as a gift. One of the officers told his young daughters what had happened, and each of them decided to donate one of their Christmas gifts to the family.

The officers, most of which were off-duty, then delivered the gifts to the Florence Townshi family on Christmas Eve. Images from the delivery were posted on the police department’s Facebook page.

“This job is a lot more than just writing tickets and arresting people,” Florence Township Police Chief Brian Boldizar said. “It is about taking care of our community.”

The family first reported that their car was stolen from the front of the Quick Stop on Saturday, according to the police department. Most of the family’s Christmas gifts were in the car when it was stolen.

Florence Township police responded to the scene, and were able to identify a suspect through surveillance videos and interviews with witnesses. Charges were filed, but the suspect has not yet been captured, police said.
