Police Training Exercise Scheduled for River Line Burlington South Station Saturday

Commuters may notice an increased police presence beginning at 8 a.m.

The NJ TRANSIT Police Department Office of Emergency Management and local partners will conduct a training exercise at the River Line Burlington South Station on Saturday.

The purpose of the exercise is to test responses from multiple agencies to a simulated transportation incident.

The Burlington City Police Department, Burlington City Fire Department, Burlington City Office of Emergency Management, Burlington County Office of Emergency Management, Burlington County Haz-Mat Team and the Endeavor Emergency Squad will also participate in the exercise.

The exercise is scheduled to begin around 8 a.m. and last about four hours.

River Line light rail service will operate on a Saturday schedule, with substitute bus service provided between Burlington Towne Center and Beverly-Edgewater Park stations during the exercise.

In addition, customers may notice an increased presence of police and emergency personnel along the River Line in Burlington City, and local residents may see activity in the staging area along West Broad Street in front of the River Line substation.
