Cop Car In Deadly Crash With Motorcyclist On Route 70 In Burlington Co.: AG
Authorities are investigating a crash involving a state trooper that killed a man.
SOUTHAMPTON, NJ — A crash involving a state trooper that killed a man in Burlington County is under investigation.
The marked State Police vehicle and a civilian motorcycle collided Tuesday on Route 70, near Burrs Mill Road in Southampton, authorities said. The trooper was conducting routine patrols on the highway when the crash occurred, according to the NJ Office of the Attorney General (OAG), which is investigating the incident.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m. at Virtua Mount Holly Hospital. The trooper didn't sustain "significant" injuries, the OAG said.

Authorities haven't released the identities of the trooper or civilian. Further details about the incident are not yet available.
State law requires the OAG to investigate deaths that occur during during an encounter with law enforcement acting in their official capacity or while the decedent is in custody. The findings must be presented to a grand jury to determine whether the evidence supports an indictment against any officers involved.
