4 Ways To Stay Cool As Record-High Temps Approach Burlington County

Temperatures in Burlington County will likely not get as low as the thermometer pictured here for some time, according to AccuWeather.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — The hotter-than-usual temperatures Burlington County has experienced this week are sticking around for a while longer, according to AccuWeather.

Since it is going to be a while until temperatures return to the 71 degrees like the picture in this story, and these temperatures may break a record or two until they do, the Burlington County Health Department recommended residents to take these steps during extremely hot weather:

  • Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids
  • Avoid any kind of strenuous work or exercise outdoors
  • Wear loose, light-fitting clothing
  • Stay in cool, air-conditioned places as much as possible

Most of New Jersey is poised to remain in the "extreme caution" heat index level zone through at least Monday, according to a New York Times graphic that used data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Heat indices measure how hot it really feels outside, measured by factors such as humidity and temperature.
