Rowan College at Burlington County Offering Training and Interviews in TLD Field

Free training sessions are coming up soon.

Rowan College at Burlington County’s Workforce Development Institute is offering free training and interviews with prospective employers for people seeking a career in the Transportation, Logistics, Distribution and Supply Chain sector.

“This field is responsible for more than one out of 10 jobs in New Jersey and averages a salary of $59,000 in Burlington County,” college officials said on Monday. “Free information sessions are starting soon.”

The college has earned designation as a regional Transportation, Logistics, Distribution and Supply Chain Industry Talent Development Center.

The designation, which is in partnership with Union County College, comes with a state grant to establish a Center for Excellence to equip the workforce with the latest skills, technologies, certifications as well as connections to find jobs.

“Rowan College at Burlington County’s Workforce Development Institute continues to provide opportunities for relevant training in growing fields,” Burlington County Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien said. “I encourage people to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to enter or advance in the Transportation, Logistics, Distribution and Supply Chain sector.”

This training is geared toward those who are:

  1. Unemployed and underemployed individuals who are interested in a career change.
  2. Individuals who are employed in this field but are in entry level positions and want to move up the career ladder.
  3. Anyone who is interested in a career change.

The majority of the occupations within the industry require a high school education and many require specific licensing, background checks or additional screenings.

The industry within the cluster that is expected to add the largest amount of jobs from 2012 to 2022 is merchant wholesalers and durable goods.

The fastest growing industry through the year 2022 is expected to be truck transportation with a projected growth rate of 17.9 percent, according the N.J. Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
