The scam mentions a specific police department, offers a $10 discount on a t-shirt featuring the police department's name and provides a link to buy the shirt, according to some of the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CinnaminsonPD" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">screenshots that police departments have been posting</a> on their respective Facebook pages. Below are some of the local South Jersey police departments who have mentioned the scam on their Facebook pages as of about 9 p.m. Saturday evening: <ul><li>Berlin Borough</li><li>Brooklawn</li><li>Burlington City </li><li>Delran</li><li>Gloucester City</li><li>Gloucester Township</li><li>Lindenwold</li><li>Mount Holly</li><li>Palmyra</li><li>Waterford</li><li>Winslow</li></ul> The text may look real and the organization may seem worthy, but in reality, the person or persons behind the scam has no affiliation with the police departments, law enforcement officials said. The person or persons sending these scam texts also does not have permission to use the police department's logo, according to law enforcement officials.
