Scam Targets Cell Phone Users, Cinnaminson Police Say
The person or persons behind the scam has no affiliation with the police departments, law enforcement officials said.
SOUTH JERSEY — Multiple police departments throughout South Jersey, including Cinnaminson, are warning residents of a scam that's been showing up on cell phones across the region.
The scam mentions a specific police department, offers a $10 discount on a t-shirt featuring the police department's name and provides a link to buy the shirt, according to some of the screenshots that police departments have been posting on their respective Facebook pages.
Below are some of the local South Jersey police departments who have mentioned the scam on their Facebook pages as of about 9 p.m. Saturday evening:

- Mount Holly
- Palmyra

The text may look real and the organization may seem worthy, but in reality, the person or persons behind the scam has no affiliation with the police departments, law enforcement officials said.
The person or persons sending these scam texts also does not have permission to use the police department's logo, according to law enforcement officials.

Anyone who gets such a text should not click the link and report the message to their respective cell phone carrier, the Cinnaminson Township Police Department said.
