Sen. Diane Allen Provides School Supplies to Students in Palmyra, Beverly City

Allen gave 175 Pre-K and Kindergarten in Palmyra and Beverly City school supplies.

Kindergarten and Pre-K students in Palmyra and Beverly City received a special gift on Thursday.

Sen. Diane Allen (R-Burlington) provided school supplies to more than 175 pre-k and kindergarten students in Palmyra and Beverly City in partnership with the National Foundation for Women Legislators and OfficeMax.

Sackpacks filled with pencil cases and supplies donated by Office Depot Inc. were given to students at Palmyra Charles Street School and Beverly City School. NFWL has a longstanding partnership with the office supply store chain to provide students across the country with needed supplies.

“One of the NFWL’s main policy points is emphasizing how important it is for students to get off to a good start in both their school year and education as a whole,” said Allen, who is Chair of the NFWL . “The first few years of school mark the beginning of an important journey that can greatly impact the rest of a child’s life. These first years, however, can also be intimidating. By giving out the sackpacks today we wanted to give these youngsters a few supplies they will need this year and hopefully provide a boost to their confidence as they begin to lay the foundation of what will hopefully be an enriching education.”

Members of the NFWL are able to apply to the foundation, as Senator Allen did, to bring the school supply program to their locality.

“I want to thank the NFWL and OfficeMax for bringing their partnership and these supplies to the 7th District,” Allen said.
