South Jersey Coach Had Sex With Student Inside School: Prosecutor

A New Jersey coach was indicted for having sex with a student inside a school, prosecutors say.

MAPLE SHADE – A New Jersey football coach was indicted this week for having sex with a student inside a school, prosecutors say.

Mark Kinney, 32, of Clementon was indicted on two counts of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Kinney had sex with a female student during the last academic year while working at Maple Shade High School, where he also served as an assistant football coach, according to the BCPO.

The investigation revealed the incidents happened inside the high school during the 2018-19 school year. At the time of his arrest in February, Kinney was employed as an instructional aide by a private contractor who provided paraprofessional services to students at the school, according to the BCPO.

Kinney was removed from both the coaching and teaching positions immediately after being arrested, district officials said.

The age of the victim and additional details about the incident are being withheld in an effort to protect her identity.

The investigation was conducted by detectives from the prosecutor’s office and the Maple Shade Police Department.

The indictment was returned Thursday. An arraignment will be scheduled soon in Superior Court in Mount Holly.
