South Jersey Fatal Crash: Car Strikes Parked Vehicle On N.J. Highway

A fatal crash happened on a N.J. highway involving a car that, for whatever reason, was parked in the middle of the road, police said.

A car smashed into a parked vehicle on a South Jersey highway this weekend, killing one, police said.

The accident happened around 7:18 a.m. on I-295 in Mount Laurel Sunday after an unidentified man parked his Dodge Charger in the highway's left travel lane, police said.

After the man exited the vehicle, Lloyd Hoxter, 35, of Dover, Del. struck the car as he was driving north, police said.

Hoxter was pronounced dead at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Laurel. I-295 northbound was shut down for about two hours.

The unidentified man is cooperating in the probe. We'll have more information as it comes in.
