South Jersey Man Indicted In Fatal Shooting Of Man In Car: Cops

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ - A South Jersey man has been indicted in connection with the fatal shooting of a man who was sitting in his car last year, authorities announced.
Thomas A. Thompson Jr., 39, of Burlington City, was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and second-degree certain persons not to have weapons, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced.
Thompson was arrested last year and charged in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Hubert Moore Jr., also of Burlington City. Authorities say Thompson shot into the open window of a car along Barclay Street in Burlington City at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, 2018. Moore was a passenger in the car and was struck by gunfire. The driver wasn’t injured.

Moore was pronounced dead at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro about 30 minutes after he was shot, according to authorities.
The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Thompson in Bordentown two days later, authorities said.

He was indicted on Friday and is being detained in the Burlington County Jail. He will be scheduled for an arraignment in Superior Court in the near future.
