South Jersey Store Owner Sold Items Stolen From Other Stores: Police
Police say he encouraged other people to steal for him, bought those items at a fraction of the cost and resold the items in his store.

A store owner in Burlington County stands accused of encouraging people to steal items from other stores and sell them to him at a fraction of the price. He would then sell those items in his own store, Burlington City police said this week.
Gurinder “Gary” Singh, 40, of Burlington City, is charged with fencing, conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property. Singh owns and operates the SS Food Mart, a.k.a. Fresh 2 Go Food Mart, according to police, who said they first became suspicious during a follow-up investigation on an unrelated matter. They were told about potential crimes related to the store.
Police then conducted a five-month long investigation in which they learned about his illegal operation. The investigation concluded with a raid of his store on Saturday, Sept. 2. They said they found marked items that were sold as “stolen goods” during confidential operations for sale on the store’s shelves.

Singh was subsequently arrested, charged, processed and released, pending a court appearance. The police department has also consulted the city administration about potential administrative action against the business.
