State Police Searching for Victims of Jewelry Theft in Burlington County Area

Melissa Hirschmann was charged with the theft of $2,000 worth of jewelry in Hainesport, and may have been involved in other robberies.

New Jersey State Police have arrested a suspect in a series of jewelry thefts in the Burlington County area over the past several years.

Now they need help identifying additional victims.

Melissa Hirschmann, 42, of Medford Township, was charged with he theft of over $2,000 worth of jewelry from a Hainesport Township home on April 21.

During the past month, Red Lion Station troopers have been investigating a theft of approximately $11,000 worth of jewelry that was stolen from a Shamong Township home.

Troopers have determined Hirschmann is connected with various thefts over the past several years in the Burlington County area.

During at least one of the thefts, she was employed by the victim as a pet sitter.

Hirschmann allegedly stole jewelry from the home of her employer and sold the proceeds to various pawn stores.

Anyone who has employed Hirschmann as a pet sitter over the past several years is encouraged to inventory their jewelry. Possible victims are asked to contact the Red Lion Station Detective Bureau at 609-859-2282.
