State Troopers Save Accident Victim's Life in Burlington County
State troopers used CPR and an AED defibrillator to save an unresponsive man's life following an accident on the Turnpike.
A pair of New Jersey State Troopers saved a man’s life after they responded to an accident scene in Burlington County on Thursday.
Troopers Odean Hansel and Ryan Kauffmann are credited with performing life-saving CPR on a man who had no pulse and was not breathing after an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike in Mount Laurel.
When they arrived on the scene around 2:21 p.m., the car was on the left shoulder of the Turnpike near mile marker 36.9. They found an unresponsive man in the car, and immediately began administering CPR. They used an AED defibrillator and worked to keep the man alive until paramedics arrived.

“I would like to extend praise to these two troopers for their quick action and use of CPR and AED which along with the care provided by the medics once we arrived, most likely saved the victim’s life,” Virtua Health Paramedic Louis Imperatrice said in a post on the New Jersey State Police Department’s Facebook page.
The man regained a pulse and was transported to Virtua Memorial Medical Center.
