Complaints will be filed and forwarded to the county prosecutor, Public Safety Director Michael King said.

Cinnaminson, NJ -- A 14-year-old has been arrested after running around the soccer fields at Cinnaminson Middle School wearing a clown mask, Cinnaminson Police said Thursday morning.

“This person’s actions terrorized a bus load of students which had arrived at the Middle School,” Director of Public Safety Michael King said in a letter sent to residents, parents and the media.

The incident took place Wednesday evening. The student was detained by Cinnaminson Police officers arriving at the scene, and later released to their parents pending the filing of juvenile complaints which will be forwarded to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office for their review, King said.

The “creepy clown” epidemic has become a problem throughout the country.

On Monday, a 13-year-old girl in Gloucester County was charged with making clown-related threats through social media to her classmates over the weekend.

This prompted the prosecutor’s office in that county to address the legal ramifications of these actions, which they considered to be a form of cyber harassment.
