CINNAMINSON, NJ — There was no widespread data breach associated with a suspicious email that originated from Cinnaminson Township offices last week, officials said on Monday.
“It was a one-off situation,” officials said during Monday night’s Township Committee meeting. “There was no data breach. The appropriate steps have been taken to address this concern.”
The statement came after Cinnaminson officials warned residents last week not to open an email that had come from the tax assessor’s account.
"Cinnaminson Township is aware of a suspicious email which is being circulated from the account of Tax Assessor Dennis DeKlerk," officials said in a statement at the time. "The email includes an attachment entitled 'Bedell HOA.' This is not a valid email and should not be opened. The Township is working with our IT representatives to address this issue."
It has been resolved. Officials didn't specify what happened during the meeting. Read more here: Beware Suspicious Email From Cinnaminson Tax Assessor: Officials
