Swastika Painted on Jewish Family's Home in Burlington County

A business owner helped the family paint remove the swastika because he wanted to be "part of the solution, not part of the problem."

A Jewish family living in Burlington County who found a swastika painted on their home earlier this week received a helping and in having it removed, nj.com reports.

Gerard Peterson, owner of Peterson Pressure Wash in Camden County, heard about the incident and said he wanted to help, according to the report.

Peterson’s also helped remove graffiti in Gloucester County in the past, and told the website he wanted to be “part of the solution, not part of the problem.” He removes graffiti free of charge, according to the report.

The swastika was painted on a home in Mount Laurel sometime between 11:30 p.m. on July 17 and 1 a.m. on July 18, police said. The homeowner believes the swastika was painted on his home because of his faith.

Mount Laurel Deputy Police Chief and Public Affairs Officer Stephen Riedener has been on the force for 19 years, and said there’s no history of something like this happening. The investigation is ongoing.
