Sweetwater Bar And Grill Closes Temporarily Amid Outbreak

After serving Cinnaminson for nearly 40 years, the Kyrtatas Family has temporarily closed the Sweetwater Bar and Grill due to coronavirus.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — While some bars and restaurants continue to be open for take-out and delivery, one family that has served Cinnaminson for nearly 40 years has had to temporarily shut down their business due to the negative impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

Sweetwater Bar and Grill on Route 130 closed temporarily as of March 18. It previously offered 15 percent off all takeout orders, which included beer and wine. It was going to try to be open for as long as possible, but owner George Kyrtatas told Patch days before the bar closed that revenues were already being hit hard as a result of the outbreak.

“We are at a loss for words,” the owners said in a statement on the bar’s website. “After serving our community for over 36 years, we never thought something like this would happen. We look forward to serving you again.”

The Kyrtatas Family owned and operated Hathaway’s “Diner Style” Restaurant in Cinnaminson for 27 years prior to opening Sweetwater. At Sweetwater, George Kyrtatas runs the kitchen and his brother, John, runs the front house, as the family says on Sweetwater’s website. The bar features an array of draft and bottled beers, and a wide selection of food.

They said they will reach out via social media when they are ready to reopen.

“The people who work for us and our valued customers is what makes Sweetwater so special,” the owners said. “It is our responsibility to help everyone keep safe. … We sincerely appreciate your support and understanding. We look forward to opening our doors and welcoming everyone back. We hope you and all your loved ones are safe.”

On Tuesday afternoon, members of Cinnaminson Township Committee encouraged residents to continue to patronize all local businesses, including restaurants and bars that remain open for take-out and delivery.

"Local businesses, the backbone of our community, are also suffering along with us and we encourage residents to patronize our businesses to the extent allowable," Township Committee said in a statement.
