Unemployment Rate Reaches 7.1 Percent in Burlington County

The unemployment rate in Burlington County climbed over 7 percent in July after hovering around 6 percent the previous three months, the Burlington County Times reports.

The unemployment rate of 7.1 percent is the highest it’s been in the county since March, when it was 7.2 percent. The unemployment rate was over 7 percent each of the first three months of 2014, but has not come close to the 9.1 percent mark it reached in January of 2013, according to the report.

The number represents about 16,700 unemployed residents. The total eligible number of workers in Burlington County is 237,800, according to the report.
