Veteran to Get "Rockstar" Homecoming in Palmyra Friday Night

HM1 Marco McNair will come home to a celebration put together by Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey.

A Palmyra native who served in Iraq returns home Friday night.

Hospital Corpsman First Class (HM1) Marco D. McNair will come home on Friday night, and a “rock star” welcome is planned for the veteran, according to the Borough of Palmyra’s website.

The homecoming is being coordinated by Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey, and takes place at 312 Arch Street in Palmyra, 5:45 p.m. All are invited.

McNair graduated from the Naval School of Dental Assisting at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas in September of 2001. He was stationed in Sewells Point Dental in Norfolk, Virginia before attending FMSS in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

While at Camp Lejeune, he served one tour as a Dental Assistant at the forward deployed base Camp Al Assad in Iraq.

He also served in Naples, Italy, and is currently the Leading Petty Officer of the Dental Lab for the 12th Dental Company, 2nd Dental Battalion at the 12th Dental Co, 2nd Dental Battalion in Camp Lejeune.

His personal awards include: The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, The Iraq Campaign Medal and numerous other personal and service decorations.

He is married to his wife Sherrice and was recently promoted to HM1.
