The Burlington County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a new phone scam.

The Burlington County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam in which the caller pretends to be with the office and threatens the targeted victim with arrest for not paying a warrant.

The scammers are calling victims from what appears to be a phone number used by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department and threatening the victim with arrest, the sheriff’s office said on Tuesday.

The caller claims to be a deputy and tries to get the potential victim to pay off a warrant using gift cards or other means, the sheriff’s office said.
