What You Need to Know About Monday's Township Committee Meeting
Committee will discuss Route 130 safety, property maintenance and more.

Township committee members meet for an executive session tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at the .

Route 130 safe zone/Bus shelters/Route 90—Under old business, township committee members will further discuss Route 130 redevelopment and safety issues.

Site plan ordinance—Committee members will talk about a potential change having to do with site plans. If a building is vacant for nine months, new owners would have to submit site plans to planning and zoning. As the ordinance stands now, if site improvements were done to the center within the last three years, the new owner would not need to submit site plans. Township committee is talking about extending that to five years.
"It makes it better for the businesses who have made major site plan approvals recently," Mayor Don Brauckmann said.

Hiring public works laborers & Hiring technical assistant 3—There are two pending retirements in the public works department. Township committee will talk about replacing those employees. Also, discussion will be held regarding a part-time construction office worker.
"They are exceptionally busy," Brauckmann said of the construction office.
Block party approval process—Brauckmann said as of right now, there is no standardized way to approve block parties. "We've gotten several requests," Brauckmann said. "We want to come up with a procedure for when residents want to have block parties."
Tree houses & Property maintenance—Anyone from the , zoning or construction can give out citations for maintenance issues. Brauckmann said township committee will talk about formalizing the process, so they know who is handling what.
Environmental review of Barone's—In the 1990s, the soil at Barone's was deemed acceptable, however since the township recently on Route 130 and Highland Avenue, the township will vote on a resolution that would award a contract for an updated environmental review.
Establishing a municipal investigative committee—Township committee will vote on a resolution that would create a municipal investigative committee regarding allegations made by a former employee.
