CINNAMINSON, NJ — Looking for something to do with the kids or for yourself this week? Here’s a look at some upcoming events at the Cinnaminson Library:

Monday, July 22
Make and Take Mondays! : Kids ages 4 to 12 are invited to pop into the library at any time on Mondays to create a craft that is out of this world based on our summer theme A Universe of Stories! This week’s project is Constellation Cards- discover the magic of the stars in the sky!

IPhone & IPad Workshop , 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Learn how to use your IPhone or IPad in this fun, informal workshop. Bring the following to the Cinnaminson Library:

  • your fully charged IPhone or IPad
  • your Apple (ITunes) user name and password (write them down)
  • your questions
  • paper and pen to take notes (until you fall in love with your notes app)

This is a no judgment zone!

Tuesday, July 23:
Tai Chi, 10:30 a.m. to noon: This is a beginner’s course in Qigong and Tai Chi, slow, gentle forms of exercise that help increase energy, flexibility, balance and body awareness. Those who suffer from bad posture, stiff joints, tension and instability should find the course especially helpful. No special equipment or attire required other than loose-fitting clothing and soft, flat-bottom shoes. This program is for adults only.

Squishy Factory, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Kids ages 8 to 16 are invited to the Squishy Factory, where we will be creating adorable, squishy creations from memory foam to take home and keep. We will be using fabric paint, so please wear appropriate clothing. Registration is required as space is limited!

Wednesday, July 24:
Stuffed Animal Sleepover, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Do you have a stuffed animal friend who would love to spend the night at the library? Drop your animal off on Wednesday, July 24th between the hours of 10am and 7pm. Pick your animal up on Thursday. We have an amazing evening of fun sleepover activities planned for your animal, and they will be safe and sound locked in the library overnight!

Butterfly Rick, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: This butterfly program will show anyone from 3 to 103 how to nurture and enjoy the butterflies and moths they have all around them. This is all accomplished by using the simplest of recycled household items. The presentation also includes a large display of the most beautiful and unusual butterflies and moth, all of which died of natural causes. Meet live butterflies that are displayed in homemade cages. Registration is not required.

Essential Oils, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Have you wanted to learn more about all of the wellness benefits that come from essential oils? Join Dorene Nixon RN in this hands-on, engaging Essential Oils Workshop! Dorene will guide you through the ways that essential oils can be used as an aromatic, topical, or internal treatment. Using doTERRA essential oils, you will have access to therapeutic-grade materials. This program is free; however, registration is required and only open to the first 15 participants. Registered patrons will receive a customizable essential oils roller.

Thursday, July 25
Survive: San Fransisco Earthquake 1906 , 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: I feel the earth move under my feet! Based on the popular I Survived book series this program uses STEAM activities to explore historical periods and natural disasters. We will look closer at the events with hand's on activities, games, and crafts. For ages 8 to 12.

After Hours at the Library, 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Get exclusive access to the library after it's closed to the public. Play games, try a DIY project, and wrap up the night with some stargazing through the library's own telescope! Registration is not required. For teens ages 13 to 18.

Friday, July 26
Making Sense of Nature, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Children are aware of their five senses at a young age and use sensory information to understand their surroundings. This program focuses on how human and animal senses are similar and different. A live, resident Rancocas animal will be used as an example of how animals use their senses for survival. For ages 3 to 6. Registration is not required.

The Writer's Clinic, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.:
If you need help with writing tasks like:

  • Resumes
  • Cover Letters
  • Filling out Forms (except for legal, financial and tax documents)
  • Writing Projects (i.e. toasts, speeches, reports, essays, etc.)
  • College Papers
  • Letters

We can help you! Meet one-on-one with a professional writing instructor and get the job done! This program is for adults only.

The Mug Life Book Club, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Teens and Young Adults are invited to meet up with library staff at the new Starbucks in Cinnaminson for a new book club, The Mug Life. No purchase is necessary. Bring your friends and ideas of where you would like to see this book club go in the future. Best for ages 13 and up. This month's reads are Lumberjanes Volume One: Beware the Kitten Holy and Amulet The Stonekeeper.
