Where Can Cinnaminson Residents Throw Away Broken Holiday Lights?

CINNAMINSON, NJ — The holidays are a festive time, but what happens when you have that one strand of lights that just won't cooperate? Cinnaminson residents have multiple options for disposing of their holiday lights this season. Residents throughout Burlington County are able to recycle non-working strands of indoor and outdoor holiday lights at Burlington County’s Resource Recovery Complex for free during the holiday season, according to county officials.

Cinnaminson is one of five towns in which residents can also bring their holiday lights to a township e-waste recycling drop-off center. E-waste can be dropped off at the Cinnaminson Department of Public Works on Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The other towns in which residents can drop off e-waste at recycling drop-off centers are Burlington Township,Delran, Evesham, and Florence. Residents in those towns should contact their town directly for hours of operation.

“It’s that time of year again when you take out the holiday lights, plug them in, and nothing happens,” Burlington County Freeholder Deputy Director Kate Gibbs said. “Instead of tossing them in your trash, help keep the holidays ‘green’ by recycling your non-working strands of indoor and outdoor holiday lights at the County’s Resource Recovery Complex."

She added that strings of lights should never be put in curbside recycling carts or buckets. They should instead be put in clear plastic bags or cardboard boxes.

The Resource Recovery Complex is located at 22000 Burlington-Columbus Road in Florence. It is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 7 a.m. to noon.
