Who's Running in the Democratic Primary for Burlington County Surrogate?

A new face in the Burlington County political scene is challenging the county Democratic Committee’s endorsed candidate in next week’s primary race for County Surrogate, the Burlington County Times reports.

Jeff Epstein, 44, of Maple Shade, finds himself in the same column as presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Sander Friedman, 51, of Medford, is the candidate endorsed by the Burlington County Democratic Committee.

The winner will face Burlington County Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien, a Republican, in November’s election.

Freidman has a law degree and his own practice, which he says makes him more qualified for the position than Epstein. Epstein criticizes the Democratic Committee’s ability to get people elected, pointing out the freeholder board is 100 percent Republican.
