Wildfire Burning In South Jersey Amid Air-Quality Progress In Region

BROWNS MILLS, NJ — Official reported a wildfire burning Friday afternoon in Burlington County.
The fire emerged in the area of City Line Road in Browns Mills, within the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

The blaze covered 85 acres and threatened two structures as of 4 p.m., with none of the fire contained, according to state officials.
Wildfires have sporadically popped up in South Jersey throughout the spring, especially in greener areas along Burlington and Atlantic Counties. Friday's wildfire occurred as New Jersey's air quality continues to recover from smoke and haze that traveled from the wildfires in eastern Canada.
