Year-Long Construction, Detours Beginning In Burlington County: See Where
The "structurally deficient" throughway is being rebuilt.
CINNAMINSON, NJ — The Forklanding Bridge over the Pennsauken Creek is closed for a major reconstruction effort that is estimated to take a year to complete.
More than 3,500 vehicles cross the bridge daily, according to Burlington County.

Beginning on Monday, all drivers will be detoured from Forklanding Road using Lenola Road (County Route 608), Route 130, and Route 73.

Local traffic will be able to get into the closure area, officials said, but will not be able to use any portion of the bridge roadway.
The steel pony truss bridge, built in 1906 and redone in 1988, is rated as "structurally deficient."

The main components have exceeded their usage life and deteriorated to a point that reconstruction is necessary, the County added.
The old bridge will be rebuilt with a single prefabricated truss superstructure supported by concrete caps on pilings and guarded by steel sheeting.
It will stay a single-lane structure with two-lane alternating traffic and a signal system at both approaches.
The project is beginning with temporary utility relocation before larger construction begins in July.
