YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties Host Sports Concussion Seminar, August 26
On August 26, YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties to host a free Sports Concussion Seminar to raise public awareness.
Concussions are more than just glorified headaches, they are traumatic brain injuries. The lack of public awareness about concussions has led the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conclude that sports concussion in the U.S. have reached an epidemic level.
Join the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties for a free Sports Concussion Seminar on Tuesday, August 26 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Mt. Laurel YMCA in Studio A.
According to clinical reports on sport-related concussions in children and adolescents, there are between an estimated 1.6 and 3.9 million sports-related concussions in the U.S. every year. The seminar, presented in conjunction with Strive Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation, will discuss what a concussion is and how to know if you’ve had one. Attendees will also learn how to safely return to exercise after a concussion and how physical therapy can help in recovery.
