One Person Dead After Fire Breaks Out At Union County Home: Report
Firefighters were temporarily asked to evacuate due to the conditions of the building.
RAHWAY, NJ — A person is dead after a fire at a Rahway home on Tuesday, according to NJ Advance Media.
Officials responded to a building in the 1500 block of High Street at around 10:30 a.m. and were met with smoke and flames on both floors. The fire also spread to the attic and outside.
Firefighters had to temporarily evacuate due to the deteriorating condition of the home. The City of Rahway Office of Emergency Management also asked to avoid the area.

After the three-alarm fire was put out, one person was still unaccounted for, the city said.

In a statement, Rahway Mayor Raymond Giacobbe confirmed that one person was dead due to the flames.
"On behalf of the City of Rahway, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual who tragically lost their life in this fire," Giacobbe said.
