1 Dead In Linden House Fire Monday Night
The second floor of the building was already fully engulfed with heavy smoke and visible flames when authorities arrived Monday night.
LINDEN, NJ — A deadly house fire in Linden killed one resident on Monday night, police said.
The victim, identified as 26-year-old Cyril Spinks, was found in a second floor apartment of a building on the 1400 block of McCandless Street by Linden Firefighters and later pronounced dead, Linden Police Lt. Christopher Guenther said.
The second floor of the building was already fully engulfed with heavy smoke and visible flames shortly after 8 p.m. when authorities arrived, Guenther said.

Firefighters from Linden, Elizabeth, Rahway, Roselle Park, and Garwood battled the two-alarm blaze for about 45 minutes before it was extinguished, Guenther said.
The apartments on the second floor of the building were destroyed and a business on the first floor had smoke and water damage.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, it is not considered suspicious at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Maurice Rawlins at 908-474-8537.
