71-Year-Old Hit, Killed By Car At ShopRite In Clark

The woman was leaving the ShopRite Supermarket on Saturday when she was hit. She suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.

CLARK, NJ — A 71-year-old woman died after being hit by a car as she was leaving ShopRite in Clark on Saturday morning, Clark Police Chief Pedro M. Matos said Monday.

The victim was leaving the ShopRite Supermarket at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 when she was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Raritan Road and ShopRite Way, Matos said.

She had suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark where she died from her injuries, Matos said.

The driver remained at the scene, called 911, and is cooperating with the police investigation.
