ALJ Cheerleader Honored for Selection to Pro Bowl
"Both Arthur L. Johnson High School and the Clark School District are better off today as a result of the countless contributions Alison has made," said Superintendent Kenneth Knops.

Arthur L. Johnson High School senior Alison Dugan was honored at the Clark Board of Education’s “Showcase of Success” on April 9th for her selection to cheer in the National Football League’s Pro Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Alison was called to the podium at the Board of Education Meeting by Superintendent Kenneth Knops, who extolled her numerous accomplishments not only as a cheerleader, but as a student and altruistic member of the community.

In highlighting Alison’s many and varied achievements, Knops began by highlighting her awards and honors as a cheerleader. Alison is a four year member of the Johnson Varsity cheerleaders and served as captain of the squad both her junior and senior years. She also cheers for a competitive all-star team, the New Jersey Heat. Alison’s career to date as a cheerleader culminated with her selection to cheer at the National Football League’s Pro Bowl this past year in Honolulu. While there she qualified to compete in the All American Cheer and Dance Scholarship Invitational and won first place in the cheer and tumble division, taking home a $1,000 scholarship.
A firm believer in giving back to the community, Alison has been a junior coach for Pop Warner and is currently a volunteer cheerleading coach for New Jersey’s Speicl Needs Team. Alison has also set up a food drive for the Food Pantry at St. John the Apostle Church, has volunteered her time at the Center for Hope Hospice Hope Chest, and has participated in many other community service activities.

Over her four year career at Arthur L. Johnson High School, Alison has achieved a great deal academically. She is a member of the National Honor Society; Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society; and the Spanish Honor Society, where she also serves as secretary. Alison is a peer leader, peer mediator, member of the Amnesty International Club, and a member of the Crusader Athletic Leadership Council. Over her stellar academic career Alison has maintained a 4.380 Grade Point Average. This coming September Alison will attend Penn State University where she will major in nutrition.
In commenting on Alison, Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Knops remarked, “Both Arthur L. Johnson High School and the Clark School District are better off today as a result of the countless contributions Alison has made to our school and township communities. She has walked into so many lives and left her imprint on the hearts of all she has come into contact with. As a school district we will greatly miss her upon her graduation, we certainly look forward to hearing of her future achievements and accomplishments at Penn State University.”
