Clark Rec Center Reinforces Youth Supervision Policy Following Recent Misconduct

Parents are reminded to pick up children promptly after programs as the township cracks down on unsupervised visits to the facility.

CLARK, NJ - The Clark Recreation Center is reminding families that children and teens may not be left unattended at the facility unless they are actively enrolled in a Township-sponsored program with on-site supervisors, officials announced this week.

The reminder follows recent incidents of inappropriate behavior involving unsupervised youth at the center, according to Recreation Director Ralph Bernardo. Township officials emphasized that the Recreation Center is intended to be a safe and welcoming environment for residents of all ages and is not a gathering place for children who are not enrolled in a scheduled activity.

Parents and guardians are asked to ensure their children are supervised while at the facility and are picked up promptly at the conclusion of camps, practices, classes, and other recreation programs.

Officials also noted that security cameras are located throughout the Recreation Center and are actively monitored. Incidents involving vandalism, harassment, property damage, disorderly conduct, or other inappropriate behavior will be documented and referred to the Clark Police Department.

The Recreation Department said it appreciates the cooperation of families in helping maintain a positive and safe environment for all visitors to the facility.
