CLARK, NJ — As another round of summer heat settles over Union County, Clark officials are reminding residents that there's a place to cool off if the temperatures become too much to handle.
The Clark Public Library is serving as a cooling center this week, giving residents an air-conditioned place to escape the heat during the hottest parts of the day.
The library will remain open until 5 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Anyone who needs relief from the heat is welcome to stop by during those hours.
For residents who may need a place to cool down after the library closes, officials said the lobby of the Clark Police Department will remain open and available.
The reminder comes as communities across New Jersey continue to deal with another stretch of hot and humid weather heading into the holiday weekend.
Township officials are also encouraging residents to check in on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be especially vulnerable during periods of extreme heat.
Residents are reminded to stay hydrated, avoid spending long periods outdoors when possible, and take precautions until temperatures begin to ease.
