CLARK, NJ — Elizabethtown Gas is preparing to replace and upgrade natural gas pipelines in portions of Clark as part of its ongoing infrastructure improvement program aimed at enhancing the safety and reliability of service.
The project will replace aging gas mains with new, durable plastic pipe and relocate gas meters from inside homes and businesses to outdoor locations beginning on July 27.
Service lines connecting buildings to the street mains will also be replaced where necessary.
According to the project notice, work will affect the following streets: Briarheath Lane, Brookside Terrace, Deerwood Drive, Grove Street, Hawthorne Drive, Laurel Lane, Locust Grove Drive, Oak Ridge Road, Orchard Terrace, Wheatfield Road, William Street, Willow Way, and Woodland Road.
Elizabethtown Gas said the meter relocations are intended to improve emergency access, increase system reliability, and simplify future maintenance. The company added that construction practices will be used to minimize disruptions to residents and businesses.
