
During the board meeting this last week, a woman stating she lived on Myrtle Ave spoke at the microphone during the comment time explaining how Mayoral Candidate Jen Blumenstock and Councilman Mark Lazaro (Mark is running for re-election)
- knocked on her door
- informed her that one of her neighbors was doing an Airbnb
- spouted off all kinds of “what ifs’ to instill fear in her
The woman at the microphone explained that Mayoral Candidate Jen Blumenstock really scared her.
After Mayoral Candidate Blumenstock and Councilman Lazaro left her property, the homeowner thought about it. She asked herself why she should be fearful? She explained to the town council that she uses Airbnb for both work and pleasure when she is out of town. She has always felt safe and felt responsible to any home she has stayed in.

She explained the vetting process Airbnb has in place AND that hosts “approve” guests before they can book a stay.
This neighbor explained to the town council that Airbnb hosts have specific rules that guests have to abide by and that there are large financial penalties for guests who don’t follow the rules set forth by the host.
