Body Found Near Picnic Table In Union County Park: UCPO
Authorities are investigating the circumstances behind the death of a Plainfield man who was found near a picnic table at the park.
PLAINFIELD, NJ — Authorities are investigating the circumstances behind the death of a Plainfield man whose body was found in a county park Wednesday, acting Union County Prosecutor Michael A. Monahan and Union County Police Chief Chris Debbie jointly announced Thursday.
The man found dead at Green Brook Park in Plainfield on Wednesday has been identified as Wykil Sherrod Jr., 20, of Oxford Place in Plainfield, Monahan said. (See Related: 1 Dead In Union County's Green Brook Park)
Sherrod Jr.'s body was found near a picnic table at the park following a report of a shooting at the park at around 11 a.m. on April 10 by members of the Union County Homicide Task Force, Union County Police Department, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.

Sherrod Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy performed Thursday morning by the Office of the Medical Examiner listed the cause of Sherrod’s death as a gunshot wound.

However, the "manner of death remains undetermined pending continued investigation," Monahan said.
