Borough Of Garwood: North Side Paving Project To Start April 14

The paving contractor for Elizabethtown Gas will start paving several streets curb-to-curb on the Borough's north side. They anticipate beginning on April 14, and the entire job is expected to take about five days. This paving program is a result of the Borough's negotiations with Elizabethtown Gas that started in 2019. Elizabethtown Gas will be notifying all affected homes by dropping a letter a day or two before the work begins.The previously agreed upon roads include:

  • Fourth Avenue from Oak Street to the beginning of the Fourth Avenue col-du-sac,
  • Third Avenue from Oak Street to Cedar Street,
  • Cedar from Third Avenue to North Avenue,
  • Walnut Street from Third Avenue to Fourth Avenue,
  • Second Avenue from Walnut Street to Maple Street, and
  • The first 25 feet or so on Maple Street off of Fourth Avenue.

Also, they will be paving the dead-end block of Fourth Avenue from Oak Street to the Cranford line, which saves the Borough $87,000 as estimated by our Borough Engineer.
