Clark 5K Nears $1 Million Fundraising Milestone For Myeloma Research
The 14th annual Miracles for Myeloma 5K returns to Oak Ridge Park as organizers aim for $1 million raised for research.
CLARK, NJ — A longtime Clark fundraiser is closing in on a major milestone as it prepares to return to Oak Ridge Park this month.
The 14th Annual Miracles for Myeloma 5K Hybrid Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, at Oak Ridge Park, 136 Oak Ridge Road. The timed 5K and untimed walk begin at 9:30 a.m., and a virtual option is also available.
Organizers say the event's previous races have funded 13 research grants and raised more than $900,000. This year, they're hoping to push that cumulative total past $1 million for myeloma research.

"My needs are just as strong as ever, to help raise awareness for multiple myeloma," organizer Sheree Pask wrote in the event's founding story.
The race was created after Pask and Gina Klemm connected through their families' experiences with multiple myeloma. Klemm's brother, Frank Guarino, an avid runner, had wanted to organize a 5K benefiting myeloma research before his death in 2012.

The event is held in conjunction with the International Myeloma Foundation, according to organizers.
Registration for the timed 5K, walk and virtual event is listed as opening Thursday, September 17.
