CLARK, NJ — Clark Firefighters are taking extra precautions to avoid the spread of the new coronavirus.

"We will be responding as per normal response; however we will be sending limited members into residences to investigate and they may be wearing respiratory protection. This is for your protection and ours," the Clark Fire Department stated.

Additionally, no one will be allowed inside the Clark Fire House except for active firefighters. Residents are asked to instead call 911 for any emergencies.

When calling for a fire emergency, residents are asked to let the dispatcher know if anyone in the residence is experiencing flu-like symptoms and or is quarantined.

For non-emergency matters, residents are asked to call the fire department's business number at 732-381-1150. However, this number is not always monitored and should not be used for emergencies and may take several tries.

Additionally, until further notice all social and non-essential fire department activities are canceled.
