Clark, Garwood Locals Arrested For DWI, Marijuana: Blotter
Clark and Garwood locals were among seven to be arrested for DWI and drugs in Cranford last week, police report.

CRANFORD, NJ — Clark and Garwood locals were among seven to be arrested for DWI and drugs in Cranford last week, police report.
Cranford Police Blotter:
On April 6 at 6:07 p.m.: A 1998 Lincoln was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and the Garden State Parkway 137 NorthBound ramp for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Michael O’Neil determined that the driver, Brian Messina, 57, of Clark was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Messina was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a friend pending a Municipal Court appearance. Additionally, Messina was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to maintain lamps, and driving while intoxicated.

On April 10 at 11:14 a.m.: A 2001 Ford was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Coleman Avenue for failing to signal. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Robert Jordan located hypodermic syringes in the vehicle. The driver, Olivia Tevlin, 20, of Linden was arrested for Possession of Hypodermic Syringe, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. A passenger, Blake Brink, 23, of Morristown was discovered to have an active warrant out of Newark Municipal Court. Brink was ultimately released on his own recognizance, pending a court date in Newark. Tevlin was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to inspect, failure to signal, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
On April 10 at 1:56 p.m.: A 2015 Nissan was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and John Street for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Thomas Bell located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Tony Smith Jr., 27, of Hillsdale was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Smith Jr. was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt.

On April 11 at 4:32 p.m.: A 1998 Chevrolet was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and John Street for an inspection violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Robert Jordan located a pipe, used to ingest narcotics, on the driver, Victor Smith, 54, of Edison. Smith was arrested for Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Smith was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, expired inspection, and failure to maintain lamps.
On April 12 at 12:29 a.m.: A 2003 Volkswagen was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and Carpenter Place for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Shayne Temple determined that the driver, Gewndlyn Jones, 41, of Roselle had multiple traffic warrants for her arrest. While being placed under arrest for the warrants, Ptl. Temple determined that Jones was also in possession of marijuana. Jones was transported to Cranford Police Headquarters, processed for Possession of a Marijuana(under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Contempt of Court, and issued a Municipal Court appearance. Jones was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lamps, driving while suspended, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
On April 13 at 10:08 p.m.: A 2007 Hyundai was stopped at the intersection of W. North Avenue and W. Lincoln Avenue for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Daniel Donnerstag located Suboxone inside the vehicle. A passenger, Joie Tortorello, 26, of Garwood was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Suboxone); and Contempt of Court, processed, and turned over to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department on an active warrant. The driver was issued a summons for having a cracked windshield.
On April 14 at 9:08 p.m.: A 2007 Pontiac was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road for an unsafe lane change. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. John Rattigan located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Khadijah Auguste, 19, of Newark was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. The driver was issued a summons for careless driving.
