Clark Gas Station Armed Robbery, Police Chase Ends In Arrests

Two men are in custody after robbing a township gas station at gunpoint and leading police on a car chase that ended in a crash.

CLARK, NJ — Two men are in custody after robbing a township gas station at gunpoint and leading police on a car chase that ended in a crash, Clark Police report.

Clark Police Officer Michael Hernandez was driving by the Exxon Station at the corner of Raritan Road and Central Avenue when an attendant flagged him down for help shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, police report.

The gas station attendant said they had been robbed at gunpoint by two men who were running across Central Avenue.

Hernandez saw the men getting into a car and then began chasing them. The suspect's vehicle crashed shortly after in the area of St. George Avenue and W. Grand Avenue in Rahway, police report.

Those inside the car and several other civilians caught in the collision were sent to the hospital. One suspect and one victim had moderate injuries, police said.

Police found two guns and property stolen from Exxon after the crash, police report.

Warren Fields, 32, of Newark was charged for robbery, resisting arrest/eluding and aggravated assault. Anthony Bodison, 32, of Newark was also charged for robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property.

Both men were subsequently turned over to the Union County Sheriff’s Department.
