CLARK, NJ — Clark resident Nick DeLoretto was recently diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a rare blood disorder that will rapidly progress to Leukemia. His only chance of survival is a blood stem cell transplant from a matched donor.

DeLoretto has already undergone numerous blood transfusions and chemotherapy to no avail. Although he has no matches in his family, DeLoretto is remaining optimistic he will find a match.

The Clark Recreation Department sent out a notice asking residents to help DeLoretto and be tested to see if they are a match.

"Nick is a man who does everything he can for his family, his friends, and his community," the flier stated. "Far too often we forget how connected we all are and the difference that we can make in one another's lives. We take for granted the power that one simple act of kindness can have."

The swab test takes 10 minutes and is open to anyone between the ages of 18 to 44. If interested in being testing, Text: NickyD To: 61474.
