Clark Police Arrest 2 Burglars, Warn Of Increase In Crimes

Clark has seen an increase in crimes against motor vehicle thefts and motor vehicle burglaries since the outbreak of COVID-19.

CLARK, NJ — Clark Police are warning residents of an increase in crime in the township since the pandemic began.

"Just like the towns surrounding us, we have seen an increase in crimes against property, mostly motor vehicle thefts and motor vehicle burglaries, since the outbreak of COVID-19," said Clark Police.

Over the last several weeks, Clark Police have arrested two burglars in different neighborhoods and are not related.

Both were arrested immediately following the burglaries by patrol officers. One was released on a summons, the other was committed to the Union County Jail, pending a first appearance hearing, said police.

Police are asking residents if they see anything suspicious, especially during the early morning hours, to report it to them at 732-388-3434.

Here is the latest police blotter:

On Aug. 17 at 9:03 a.m.: Police took a report of a stolen motor vehicle that was removed from a
residence on Charlotte Drive. The incident is under investigation. Police Officer Andrew Medeiros was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 18 at 11:42 p.m.: In the vicinity of Union County Parkway, police arrested Marthely Doremus, 30, of Irvington for burglary and theft. He was subsequently transported to the Union County Jail pending a court date. Police Officer Anthony Salas was the arresting officer.

On Aug. 19 at 6:53 a.m.: Police took a report of a theft of items from a motor vehicle that was
parked at a residence on Union County Parkway. The incident is under investigation. Police Officer Alex Ruiz was the investigating officer.
