Clark Police Make 5 Arrests For Shoplifting, DUI, Warrants

A car was also reportedly burglarized while parking in the township.

CLARK, NJ — Clark police reported making five arrests on charges including shoplifting, driving under the influence, outstanding warrants, and more.

Clark Police blotter:

On Dec. 17 at 8:46 p.m.: Police took a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle that was parked in the lot of 24-Hour Fitness at 140 Central Ave. The incident is under investigation. Police Officer Michael Hernandez was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 19 at 10:04 p.m.: In the vicinity of Shop-Rite Way, police arrested Polly Powasnik, 28, of Cranford on outstanding warrants from Cranford, Westfield and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department totaling $1,000 for contempt of court. She was subsequently turned over to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department. Police Officer Ronny Taborda was the arresting officer.

On Dec. 21 at 11:06 a.m.: At the Essex County Jail, police arrested Iman Barnes, 30, of Newark for shoplifting from the Marshall’s Department Store at 77 Central Ave. She remained housed at the Essex County Jail. Detective Michael Ciaccio was the arresting officer.

On Dec. 22 at 1:21 a.m.: In the vicinity of Central Avenue, police arrested Jason Harden, 30, of Roselle for DUI. He was subsequently released pending a court date. Police Officer Michael Hernandez was the arresting officer.

On Dec. 23 at 11:57 p.m.: In the vicinity of Valley Road, police arrested Erik Gulley, 48, of Rahway on outstanding warrants from Cliffside Park totaling $1,500 for contempt of court. He was subsequently transported to the Bergen County Jail. Police Officer Joshua Weber was the arresting officer.

On Dec. 24 at 12:12 p.m.: At headquarters, police arrested Taniah Swinson, 21, of East Orange for passing bad checks and theft by deception. She was subsequently released on her own recognizance pending a court date. Detective Bruce McDonald was the arresting officer.
